The 5th Festival of Children’s Arts in al-Jazira Region

The fifth Festival of Children’s Art wad launched on Sunday in al-Jazira region (administrative division comprising Hasakah and Qamishli) under the slogan “We are the children of life”, with the participation of many children’s art groups, that lasts for four days.
The festival which is organized by two arts institutes, Kfana Zerin (Golden Arch) and the Culture and Art Authority of the Autonomous Administration, is held at the beginning of September of each year and aims to entertain children and keeping them out of the atmosphere of war by showing their talents and presenting artistic works.
The festival includes several entertainment activities for children, such as folk songs, plays, music, and debka, as well as an exhibition of drawings and hand-made tools which are made by children.
The festival is held in both towns of Rmailan and Tal Tamr in the countryside of Hasakah with the participation of many artistic teams of children from cities and towns of Qamishli and Hasakah. 
Roken Mohammed a member of the preparatory committee in Qamishli told North-Press: “Hundreds of children are participating in the art performances such as painting, sculpture, handicrafts, theatre, music and dancing”.
Regarding the importance of developing the artistic values of children, she adds: “Children are the joy of life and they are our future”.
For the first time, in this year’s festival there are artistic groups of children from war-torn areas who have participated in the festival such as the town of Jizaa in eastern Hasakah countryside. In this regard, Hanif Mohammed an administrator at the cultural center in the town of Jizaa said: “The town had been subjected to ISIS dark terrorism, and by participating in the festival we want to remove the effects of the war on our region and children in particular”.
The Children Art festival has been held annually since 2015, and is an annual tradition that is organized by the Culture and Art Authority to encourage children’s artistic talents.
