Autonomous Administration sends 1,000 food parcels to families with limited income in Hasakah

On Thursday, the Social Affairs and Labor Board of the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria sent 1,000 food baskets from the allocations of the Autonomous Administration in a warehouse in the Newroz camp near the town of Derik, to families with limited income in the city of Hasakah.

"The food baskets which were sent to needy families in Hasakah belong to the Autonomous Administration, where they were stored in warehouses in the Newroz camp," the director of the Newroz camp Dijla Muhammad told North-Press.

Dijla Muhammad explained that the beneficiaries of the food baskets are those with limited income and workers who were dependent on daily income, as their works stopped after the Autonomous Administration imposed the lockdown in its areas as a precautionary measure to prevent the spread of the novel coronavirus.

One basket includes 5kg of sugar and 4kg of rice, in addition to 4kg of lentils and the same amount of beans, and a 4-liter oil bottle and two packages of tomato sauce.

Muhammad added that the distribution process will take place through the local councils, communes, and the Social Affairs and Labor Board in all the cities and towns of Hasakah, pointing out that they sent 1,000 food baskets to the city of Qamishli last Wednesday.

On the 29th of last month, the Executive Council of northeastern Syria announced the distribution of food baskets to “needy” families who depend on daily works to earn their living.

On Monday, the Autonomous Administration announced the extension of the lockdown from the 7th of April to the 21st of April in the framework of the measures taken to prevent coronavirus epidemic.
