Armed groups break into a house in Afrin, shoot its owner

On Tuesday, a civilian was seriously wounded in the village of Basofan in the Sherawa district, south of the Afrin region in the northwest of Syria, as a result of being shot by members of the Turkish-backed Failaq al-Sham. The man was attempting to prevent them from taking over his house.
The Violations Documentation Center in northern Syria (VDC-NSY) stated that members of Failaq al-Sham, led by a person known as Abu Zaid, broke into the house of Muhammad Arbo and demanded he leave immediately and hand the house over to one of the group leaders.
The documentation center added that the owner of the house showed his ownership documents and refused to hand over his house, so the group's militants began shooting at him. He was hit by two bullets.
Arbo was transferred to a hospital in the city of Afrin, and due to the seriousness of his situation, he was transferred to Bab al-Hawa Hospital in northern Syria, according to the Violations Documentation Center.
In a related context, local sources in the village of Hassa Merkan, which is affiliated with the Muabatli district of Afrin, told VDC-NSY that militants of the Turkish-backed Jabhat al-Shamiya broke into the house of Mohammed Nori and assaulted him, tied him behind their car, and dragged him for meters behind the car while shouting slogans and shooting in the air.
The center did not provide any additional details about the reason for the attack or the fate of Nori.
The Afrin Post website said that militants from al-Osso group, affiliated with Jabhat al-Shamiya, attacked a man and his sons in the city of Afrin on Monday, because of their refusal to surrender to a robbery of his shop by the militants.
In a report published on August 2nd, 2018, Amnesty International said that the people of Afrin “experience multiple human rights violations, most of them carried out by groups that are backed and armed by Turkey.”
Amnesty International added, "These violations, which the Turkish armed forces turn a blind eye to, include arbitrary arrests, enforced disappearances, confiscation of property, and looting."
