“The customs law is important to the administration because we need the materials to be able to import them from abroad, especially the import of cars and modern machines, and the law enables us to export surplus products of the region,” Atti added.
Atti explained that the customs duties will be imposed on materials and goods coming from the regions of the Syrian government and the opposition-held areas in case if these goods come from outside Syria, while Syrian-made goods wouldn’t be imposed by customs duties because they are produced within the Syrian geography, as he said.
The co-chair of the General Council Farid Atti pointed out that the law does not approve the imposition of customs duties on materials used for humanitarian purposes, and “the Autonomous Administration will issue some decrees regarding that matter.”
The General Council of the Autonomous Administration of North and Eastern Syria is as a parliament for all areas of the administration, which oversees its work and approves the draft laws and regulations of its institutions.
