Muslim Brotherhood leader Mulham al-Droubi blamed the Syrians for the refugee crisis in Istanbul by his tweets, igniting the Syrian anger against him.

Muslim Brotherhood leader Mulham al-Droubi, addressed the crisis of the Syrian refugees in Istanbul by this analogy: “I received a guest in my house and I did my duty towards him for a long time, I treated him as my children, and I sometimes preferred him to them, but unfortunately he cannot act well because either he is ignorant or his family is greed. He is long-standing and my conditions worsened and he is senseless, what do you advise me to do?”

Al-Droubi blamed the Syrians in Turkey for “acting ignorantly or greedily” in the context of his comment on the rapid developments on the situation of the Syrians in Turkey, especially in Istanbul, at a time a large number of Syrians were deported to their country, some of them because of lack of Temporary Protection Cards (Kimlik), and some others without obvious reasons.

While there is no accurate official statistic about the number of people deported from Istanbul since the beginning of this week, the Muslim Brotherhood leader emerged and blamed the Syrians themselves, saying in a tweet following his previous one: “Continuing to violate laws and regulations by some Syrians, hurts everyone and creates a crisis that is being waited by our enemies”.

He said that “Unrecognizing the error and trying not to treat it, will not work,” adding that “I begged and still begging all to seek help the one in need and to mitigate the damage of those affected, each according to his ability and as God wants”.

The Muslim Brotherhood leader sent a message to the Syrians in Turkey via “Twitter” saying: “The Turkish street is capable of adding, subtracting, multiplying and dividing, you and I, one of those four million (in reference to an approximate number of Syrians in Turkey), can make from yourself a problem or a benefit, initiate and do not wait and do not blame others.”

While Syrian activists deliberated al-Droubi’s comments, especially those resembled the Syrians as “ignorant or greedy,” where many condemned his content, Abdulqader Laheeb, an activist wrote wondering “Is the owner of the house take from the guest the fare of the bed? Is the owner of the house take from the guest the fare of electricity and water? Is the owner of the house does not serve food or lunch to the guest? Let’s first, agree that whoever comes to you is not a guest, but a fugitive from the hell of death”.

Others deliberated in a similar response: “I am a survivor, not a refugee or a guest”.

While the defected military leader from the Free Syrian Army (FSA) Abdul-Hamid Zakariya attacked al-Droubi’s tweets by saying: “A group was imposed on the revolution that excessed in the blood of its people greedily, and it’s been long-standing and the chests were filled with hatred, what do you advise people to do?” In reference to the Muslim Brotherhood which al-Droubi belongs to, as he said.

Among his response and interact to the condemners of his tweets, al-Droubi said: “I live in Istanbul and I see them by my eyes, many Syrians unfortunately, do not abide by the etiquette of the hospitality”.

Basel Haffar, the director of “Idrak” Center for Researches and Consultations, has described al-Droubi’s posts as “full of fallacies”, saying: “Neither the Syrians are without sense or taste, nor the Turks look at them with such a narrow view.”

The activist, Muhammad al-Sheikh tweeted: “Does this category include the opening of universities without authorization and credibility, which its motive was stealing the money of the Syrians, who refused to feed themselves to teach their children?”
He said, referring to a fake university that was launched by al-Droubi, and named Al-Rushd University.

The procedures came days after the Turkish Interior Minister Suleyman Soylu’s announcement that Istanbul is “closed for Syrians”, and that the authorities are taking action against illegal immigrants.
