Counter-terrorism Units Capture a Cell of Bombings and Assassinations Leader in Raqqa

Counter-terrorism Units (H.A.T) of the Internal Security Forces (Asayish) in north and eastern Syria arrested the head of a terrorist cell of Islamic State in Raqqa last night.

As special sources informed North-Press that the Units raided the house of Ali al-Hussein, yesterday midnight,  who leads a cell that was planning assassinations and bombings operations against civilians in Raqqa city, as he was working for the security apparatus of Islamic State.

Moreover,  sleeper cells affiliated to Islamic State has recently carried out many operations, resulting in civilian and military casualties, in several areas of north and eastern Syria.

Earlier, Counter-terrorism Units have conducted numerous security operations to arrest members of Islamic State group’s cells. On 26 March, the forces conducted two raids in the city of Raqqa and the countryside of Manbij near the Tishreen dam in the northeastern of the country, resulted in the capture of five terrorists of “cells working in favor of ISIS.”

Two days later, the Syrian Democratic Forces(SDF) carried out a large-scale security campaign in the eastern countryside of Deir ez-Zor, in which they arrested suspects accused of dealing with groups of Islamic State.
