CENTCOM says U.S., Saudi forces strike Iran-aligned targets in Iraq
DAMASCUS, Syria (North Press) – U.S. and Saudi forces on Tuesday conducted precision strikes against Iran-aligned armed groups in eastern Iraq, the U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) announced.
U.S. and Saudi fighter aircraft targeted multiple logistics and weapons sites used by Iran-aligned groups that CENTCOM said were directed by Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) to attack U.S. forces and Saudi energy infrastructure.
The strikes came in response to more than 30 IRGC-directed drone attacks over the previous 72 hours, according to CENTCOM.
The attacks targeting U.S. forces were unsuccessful, the command said, without providing details on casualties or damage.
CENTCOM added that Iran-aligned militias in Iraq had carried out more than 600 attempted attacks against US citizens and facilities between February and April 2026.
“The IRGC and its terrorist proxies must cease these attacks to avoid further U.S. military response,” CENTCOM added.
The strikes mark a further escalation in regional tensions involving Iran-aligned armed groups and U.S. forces, amid continued concerns over attacks against American personnel and infrastructure in the region.
