One killed, several injured in Hama landmine blast
QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) – One person was killed and several others were injured on Tuesday after a landmine left behind from the war exploded in the village of Duwair al-Akrad in the countryside of Hama governorate.
According to the Syrian state-run Al-Ikhbariya TV, the explosion was caused by a landmine left behind from the former Syrian government’s war and resulted in one fatality and several injuries of varying severity.
The incident came two days after another person was killed in a landmine explosion in the eastern countryside of Idlib governorate. In a separate incident, three children were injured by a war remnant landmine in the countryside of Homs.
Landmines and unexploded ordnance continue to pose a serious threat to civilians across several parts of Syria, causing recurring casualties years after active fighting has subsided.
