Israeli drone drops stun grenades on road in Daraa countryside
QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) – An Israeli drone dropped two stun grenades on the Abidin–Maariya road in the Yarmouk Basin area of western Daraa governorate on Saturday, with no casualties or material damage reported, according to local sources.
The sources told North Press that the drone targeted an area near the al-Arada neighborhood, adding that several vehicles were traveling on the road at the time of the incident. They said the attack caused no injuries or damage.
According to the same sources, the drone strike came shortly after local residents had once again blocked the road, following its reopening by an Israeli military patrol consisting of three vehicles and a tracked bulldozer that entered the area on Friday.
On Friday, Israeli forces advanced into the village of Maariya while firing heavily, local sources said, adding that no injuries were reported.
The sources said Israeli military vehicles removed stone barriers that residents had previously placed to block roads leading into the village. The barriers had been erected in an effort to prevent repeated Israeli military incursions.
Israeli military activity has increased in Daraa countryside in recent weeks. On June 28, Israeli forces shelled the village of Abidin and its surroundings and fired heavy machine guns from a military helicopter, while Israeli fighter jets and helicopters flew over the skies of Daraa and Quneitra governorates.
