Syrian Foreign Minister arrives in Riyadh for talks

QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) – Syrian Foreign Minister Asaad al-Shaibani arrived in the Saudi capital, Riyadh, on Wednesday to hold extensive talks with senior Saudi officials and discuss several bilateral and regional files, according to the state-run SANA news agency.

The agency reported that al-Shibani’s visit is aimed at “conducting extensive talks with a number of Saudi officials.”

The minister previously held a one-on-one meeting with Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan bin Abdullah Al Saud in June of this year on the sidelines of the Arab Consultative Meeting and the ministerial session of the Arab League’s ordinary resumed session 165 in Amman.

The current visit comes as part of ongoing diplomatic engagements between Damascus and Riyadh, following a rapprochement process that began in 2023. No further details on the specific agenda were released by official sources.
