Israeli forces conduct raid in Syria’s Quneitra
QUNEITRA, Syria (North Press) – Israeli forces on Tuesday raided a village in the southern countryside of Quneitra, southern Syria, searching civilian homes before withdrawing to their positions in the occupied Golan Heights, a local source told North Press.
The source said the force consisted of more than eight military vehicles that entered al-Basali village, where troops searched three civilian homes during an operation that lasted about two hours.
According to the source, the Israeli forces left the village after completing the searches and returned to their positions in the occupied Golan Heights without making any arrests or detaining residents.
Villages in the south of Quneitra have witnessed frequent Israeli incursions in recent months, including house searches, the establishment of temporary checkpoints, and identity checks on residents.
The latest raid comes amid continued Israeli military activity in southern Syria following the collapse of the Assad government in December 2024.
The Israeli forces have carried out frequent ground incursions and airstrikes, saying the operations are aimed at preventing hostile groups and weapons from establishing a presence near the Israeli border, while Syrian authorities have condemned the incursions as violations of the country’s sovereignty.
