Israeli forces set up temporary checkpoint in Quneitra countryside
QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) – Israeli forces advanced on Monday into the northern countryside of Quneitra governorate in southern Syria, where they established a temporary checkpoint before withdrawing from the area, according to Syria’s state news agency SANA.
SANA reported that an Israeli military force consisting of three military vehicles entered the area between the village of Ofania and the town of Khan Arnabah, where troops set up a temporary checkpoint and inspected civilians passing through the road.
The force later withdrew from the area after completing the operation, the agency said.
The reported incursion comes two days after another Israeli military force, consisting of six military vehicles, entered the town of Kudna in the southern countryside of Quneitra governorate.
During that operation, Israeli troops established a temporary military checkpoint and inspected civilians traveling through the area before leaving, according to previous local reports.
Israeli forces have carried out repeated ground incursions and patrols in parts of Quneitra governorate in recent months, alongside continued military activity near the ceasefire line in southern Syria.
