Interior Ministry says detained cell confessed to Damascus bombing
QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) – Syria’s Interior Ministry announced on Saturday that a recently detained cell had admitted responsibility for the bombing that targeted a building belonging to the Ministry of Defense’s Armament Administration in Damascus in May, following investigations and forensic examinations.
In a statement, the ministry said that investigations, combined with forensic analysis and the verification of security information, confirmed the cell’s responsibility for the attack, which it described as a “terrorist” bombing.
According to the statement, members of the cell confessed during questioning that they had carried out the operation with the aim of targeting public institutions, undermining security and stability, and spreading chaos among civilians.
The ministry added that investigations are continuing to identify all individuals involved in or assisting the cell and to take the necessary legal measures against them.
The explosion targeted a building affiliated with the Ministry of Defense’s Armament Administration in Damascus in May. Authorities have not yet announced further details regarding the identities of the suspects or the progress of the ongoing investigation.
