Agricultural Bank to resume operations in Syria’s Hasakah
HASAKAH, Syria (North Press) – Branches of the Agricultural Cooperative Bank in the cities of Hasakah and Qamishli, northeastern Syria, are set to reopen next week, a move expected to facilitate wheat payments and other financial services for farmers during the current harvest season, sources told North Press on Thursday.
According to the sources, both branches will begin operations immediately upon reopening by disbursing payments to wheat farmers, while activating all banking counters and services to enable farmers from across the Governorate to access their financial entitlements.
A source familiar with the matter told North Press that technical obstacles continue to delay the reopening of the bank’s remaining branches across Hasakah.
However, the relevant authorities are working to resolve these issues in order to expand banking services and ensure they are available throughout the region.
The reopening is part of a broader effort to restore government institutions in Hasakah. Earlier this week, postal services resumed in the city of Amuda, while the Governor of the Central Bank of Syria previously inaugurated the central bank’s branch in Hasakah.
The measures are being implemented as part of the ongoing integration of Autonomous Administration institutions in northeast Syria into Syria’s state administration, in line with agreements reached between the two sides earlier this year.
