DAMASCUS, Syria (North Press) – Israeli media outlets on Wednesday reported that negotiations between the Syrian transitional government and Israel are expected to resume after several months of deadlock, marking the first such move since the outbreak of the conflict involving Iran.
According to a report by the Israel Broadcasting Corporation, the United States is pressing both Tel Aviv and Damascus to restart negotiations.
Sources familiar with the matter said that direct talks between Syria and Israel would be conducted through a parallel channel to the ongoing direct dialogue between Israel and Lebanon.
The report added that U.S. President Donald Trump is seeking to revive the talks as part of broader efforts to weaken Hezbollah in Lebanon.
However, the report noted that Syrian President Ahmad al-Sharaa, as well as the governments of Israel and Lebanon, have not publicly expressed support for the U.S. initiative.
