Israeli forces establish military position in Syria’s Quneitra

QUNEITRA, Syria (North Press) – Israeli forces on Wednesday advanced into areas near al-Mantara Dam in Quneitra southern countryside, southern Syria, setting up a temporary military position and conducting inspections of civilians and vehicles.

Local sources told North Press that three Israeli military vehicles carrying more than 20 soldiers crossed from the Golan Heights toward the village of Umm al-Azam and al-Mantara Dam, where they established a military post near the reservoir.

The sources said Israeli troops remained deployed in the area at the time of reporting, stopping passing vehicles and checking the identification documents of residents traveling around the dam and nearby roads.

They added that al-Mantara Dam serves as a key recreational destination for local residents and is widely used by fishermen who rely on the reservoir for their daily livelihoods.

According to the sources, growing concern and fear have spread among residents, who worry that the continued Israeli incursions and military presence around the dam could discourage people from visiting the area out of fear of detention or questioning.

The incident comes amid a series of recurring Israeli military movements and incursions reported in southern Syria in recent months, particularly in the border regions of Quneitra and Daraa.
