Israeli forces open fire near farmers during incursion in Syria’s Daraa

DARAA, Syria (North Press) – Israeli forces advanced from the al-Jazira military barracks toward the valley of Maariya village in western Daraa countryside, southern Syria, and opened fire in the direction of farmers working in their fields, local sources said on Saturday.

The sources told North Press, the Israeli force consisted of approximately 10 military vehicles and moved into the area surrounding the valley before firing toward farmers present in the vicinity.

The sources said more than 50 farmers were working on agricultural land at the time of the incident. The gunfire forced them to withdraw from their fields out of fear of being targeted.

No injuries were reported, according to the same sources.

Residents have called on the relevant authorities to intervene to ensure the protection of farmers and guarantee their access to agricultural lands, amid growing concerns over the continuation of such incidents and their impact on livelihoods in the region.
