Jordan arrests two people attempting illegal crossing from Syria
QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) – The Jordanian army announced on Wednesday that it had thwarted an attempt by two individuals to cross into the kingdom illegally through its northern border with Syria.
In a statement, the Jordanian Armed Forces said border guard units detected the two individuals while they were attempting to bypass the border and enter Jordan unlawfully.
The army said its forces responded to the incident in accordance with established security rules and procedures, resulting in the arrest of the two individuals.
According to the statement, the detainees were handed over to the competent authorities to complete the necessary legal measures against them.
Jordanian military authorities reiterated their commitment to carrying out border security duties and confronting any attempts to infiltrate or violate the kingdom’s borders.
Jordan shares a lengthy border with southern Syria and has repeatedly announced operations targeting illegal crossings, smuggling activities, and other border security violations in recent years.
