Two killed, one injured in landmine blast in Deir ez-Zor

QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) – Two people, including a child, were killed and a third person was injured on Thursday when a landmine left behind from previous conflicts exploded in the town of al-Bu Amr in the countryside of Deir ez-Zor, local sources said.

The explosion occurred in the town’s vicinity, causing the deaths of an adult and a child, while another person sustained injuries, according to information reported by the Syrian state news agency.

No additional details were immediately available regarding the circumstances of the incident or the condition of the injured person.

Explosive remnants of war continue to pose a serious threat across Syria, where decades of conflict have left large areas contaminated with landmines and unexploded ordnance.

Dozens of civilians are killed or injured every month in similar incidents across different Syrian regions, with children accounting for a significant proportion of the victims.
