Euphrates River levels expected to stabilize in Deir ez-Zor following flooding
DEIR EZ-ZOR, Syria (North Press) – The Emergency Response Committee in Deir ez-Zor Governorate on Sunday said that water levels in the western section of the Governorate are expected to stabilize at a rise of approximately three meters, with a horizontal expansion of about 50 meters, through midday Sunday.
Several areas along the banks of the Euphrates River in the governorates of Deir ez-Zor and Raqqa have experienced a significant rise in water levels in recent days, causing substantial material damage.
In a statement published on the Deir ez-Zor Governorate’s Telegram channel, the committee said there are not expected to be any significant additional increases in river levels along the western stretch during the specified period. It added that floodwaters are expected to begin gradually receding by Sunday evening.
The statement noted that the eastern section of the river, extending from the town of al-Mayadin to Abu Kamal, continues to experience noticeable increases in water levels, which are also expected to stabilize by Sunday evening.
The committee urged residents in affected areas to exercise caution, follow instructions issued by official authorities, and avoid spreading or relying on rumors.
