QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) – A Syrian man from Aleppo countryside lost his life early Friday after Turkish gendarmerie forces opened fire on him near the Syria-Turkey border east of Kobani, according to a local source.
The source told North Press that Mustafa Alawi, 30, from al-Hadara village in Aleppo countryside, was shot while attempting to cross the border irregularly near the village of Jishan, located about 28 kilometers east of Kobani.
The source added that relatives of the victim recovered his body near the border area on Friday morning before transporting it to the city of Aleppo.
The incident comes days after another civilian was killed in the same region.On Sunday, Ibrahim Sabri, 39, lost his life after Turkish gendarmerie forces opened fire while he was irrigating agricultural land in Kikan village, located five kilometers east of Kobani along the Syrian-Turkish border.
Residents in border areas of northern Syria have repeatedly reported shootings and incidents involving Turkish border guards targeting civilians near crossing points and agricultural lands adjacent to the border strip.
