QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) – Israeli forces shelled on Monday areas surrounding the village of Taranjah in the countryside of Quneitra with more than 10 mortar rounds, while military vehicles reportedly entered the town of Jbata al-Khashab in southern Syria.
According to the Syrian state-run al-Ikhbariya TV, an Israeli force consisting of several military vehicles advanced into Jbata al-Khashab in Quneitra countryside, where troops established a checkpoint at the entrance of the town and stopped passersby.
The report said no arrests were recorded during the operation, though the movements caused tension among residents in the area.
Local reports also indicated that Israeli forces advanced inside the buffer zone west of al-Asha village in Quneitra countryside and installed new barbed wire barriers.
The shelling targeted the outskirts of Taranjah village, located near the demarcation line in southern Syria.
Israeli forces have repeatedly carried out military operations and strikes in areas near the occupied Syrian Golan Heights, citing security concerns.
