Israel orders evacuations in 11 towns in south Lebanon
QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) – The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) on Sunday warned residents of 11 towns and villages in southern Lebanon to evacuate their homes and move at least 1,000 meters away to open areas.
In a statement, the Israeli army said it was conducting operations against Hezbollah following what it described as violations of a ceasefire agreement, according to Reuters.
The statement warned that anyone near the group’s fighters or facilities “may be at risk.”
Israel continues to carry out airstrikes across southern Lebanon, while its forces maintain a strip of territory in the south of the country and demolish homes it says are infrastructure used by Hezbollah.
For its part, Hezbollah, which is backed by Iran, has continued launching drone and rocket attacks against Israeli forces in Lebanon and northern Israel.
