Israeli patrol advances into Syria’s Daraa, fires shots

DARAA, Syria (North Press) – A patrol of the Israel Defense Forces on Saturday advanced into the Wadi al-Raqad area in the western countryside of Daraa, southern Syria, marking a new movement along the border strip adjacent to the Golan Heights and raising tensions among local residents.

Local sources told North Press that the patrol, consisting of two military vehicles, entered from the direction of the Golan and reached the area of Sayl Abu Omar before returning to position at the beginning of the road leading into the valley.

According to the sources, one of the vehicles was equipped with a medium machine gun of the “DShK” type and fired several bursts of gunfire toward the valley. No injuries were reported.

The patrol remained stationed in the area for approximately one hour before withdrawing toward the Golan through the gate of Tel Abu al-Ghithar.

The sources noted that repeated incursions by Israeli forces in the area have contributed to instability among residents, particularly farmers working in lands close to the border.
