QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) – Lebanese authorities announced on Wednesday that they had thwarted an attempt to smuggle 85 kilograms of narcotics, following joint security coordination with Syria and Kuwait.
The Lebanese Interior Ministry said the operation was carried out as part of ongoing cooperation between anti-narcotics agencies in the three countries. Lebanese Interior Minister Ahmed al-Hajjar stated that coordination with Syrian counterparts led to the arrest of a suspect wanted by Lebanese judiciary authorities on charges related to drug trafficking.
According to the minister, the individual was later handed over to Lebanese authorities in accordance with established procedures. He added that the operation also resulted in dismantling an international network that had been preparing to smuggle the seized narcotics into Kuwait.
The joint effort involved coordination between anti-drug departments in Syria and Kuwait, contributing to the interception of the shipment before it reached its destination.
Authorities did not provide further details regarding the identities of those involved or the timeline of the operation.
