Three sanitation workers killed in blast in Syria’s Daraa
DARAA, Syria (North Press) – Three sanitation workers were killed on Monday after a war remnant explosive detonated while they were collecting garbage in a town in the northern countryside of Daraa, southern Syria.
A local source told North Press that the explosion occurred in one of the neighborhoods of Busra al-Harir town, killing the workers instantly.
The victims were identified as Ahmad al-Khalaf, Asaad Hamadi, and Jomaa al-Saleh, all originally from Deir ez-Zor Governorate.
The source added that the incident underscores the ongoing danger posed by unexploded ordnance that continues to threaten civilians across several areas in southern Syria.
Explosions caused by war remnants in Daraa Governorate have left dozens of casualties in recent years, amid repeated calls to intensify demining efforts and secure residential areas.
