QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) – Syrian President Ahmad al-Sharaa arrived on Wednesday in the United Arab Emirates as part of a regional tour that has included visits to Saudi Arabia and Qatar, according to official sources.
Earlier in the day, al-Sharaa met in Doha with Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, where both sides stressed the importance of strengthening bilateral relations and expanding cooperation across various sectors.
In a statement posted on the platform X, the Syrian president said he had reaffirmed Syria’s “full solidarity with Qatar regarding threats to its security and sovereignty,” without providing further details.
During his visit to the UAE, al-Sharaa is scheduled to meet Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan to discuss regional developments and ways to enhance bilateral ties, Syria’s state news agency reported.
The visit comes as part of ongoing diplomatic engagements between Damascus and Gulf states recently, following a period of strained relations since the outbreak of the Syrian conflict in 2011.
