Death toll from Israeli strikes In Lebanon rises to 254
QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) – The number of people killed in Israeli airstrikes on Lebanon has risen to 254, with 1,165 others injured, according to statements by the Lebanese Civil Defense on Wednesday.
The Lebanese Ministry of Public Health had earlier reported a preliminary toll of dozens of deaths and hundreds of injuries following coordinated Israeli airstrikes that targeted multiple areas, including the capital, Beirut.
The escalation comes amid heightened regional tensions. According to a report by the U.S.-based news outlet Axios, citing American and Israeli officials, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu raised the situation in Lebanon during a phone call with former U.S. President Donald Trump ahead of a ceasefire announcement. The report added that both sides agreed that hostilities in Lebanon could continue.
The same sources indicated that the White House is not concerned that developments in Lebanon would undermine the ceasefire with Iran. However, Iran’s Foreign Ministry described the situation in Lebanon as a “blatant violation,” stating that a cessation of hostilities in Lebanon was part of an agreement with the United States.
Iranian officials warned of serious consequences over Israel’s actions against Lebanese civilians.
Separately, the Israeli military confirmed that one of its soldiers was killed and five others were wounded during clashes in southern Lebanon. The army stated that the incident occurred hours before the announcement of the ceasefire between the United States and Iran.
