Sudani condemns targeting of Barzani home in Duhok

QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) – Iraqi Prime Minister Mohammed Shia’ al-Sudani condemned on Saturday the targeting of the residence of Kurdistan Region President Nechirvan Barzani in the city of Duhok, stressing that a joint investigation has been launched.

In a statement, al-Sudani said, “We express our condemnation of the targeting of the residence of Mr. Nechirvan Barzani in Duhok province.”

According to the Iraqi Prime Minister’s media office, a “joint security and technical team” has been formed, bringing together relevant security agencies from both the federal government and the Kurdistan Regional Government to investigate the incident.

The statement added that the team is tasked with examining the circumstances of the attack, identifying those responsible, and taking all necessary legal measures against them.

During a phone call with Nechirvan Barzani, al-Sudani reaffirmed “the Iraqi government’s commitment to preventing any outlaw groups, or regional or international actors, from dragging Iraq into the ongoing conflict in the region.”

No further details were immediately released regarding the nature of the attack or any potential casualties.
