Mass grave with 11 bodies discovered in northern Daraa countryside

QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) – A mass grave containing the remains of at least 11 people was discovered on Friday near Tel Gharaba in the city of al-Sanamayn in northern Daraa countryside, the Syrian Civil Defense said.

The civil defense in Daraa stated that its teams conducted a two-day search operation in the area, during which human remains belonging to 14 individuals were found. According to the organization, four of the remains were scattered and mixed due to previous excavation work carried out with heavy machinery by the owner of the property.

Specialized teams collected the remains and documented them according to protocols used for the documentation, recovery, and preservation of human remains, the civil defense said. The remains will later be handed over to the relevant authorities to take the necessary legal procedures.

The Syrian Civil Defense called on residents not to approach or tamper with suspected burial sites or mass graves. It urged the public to report any discovery of human remains or burial sites to its centers or to the responsible authorities.
