QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) – Two children were injured on Friday after an old rocket exploded inside a military site in the central Syrian city of Homs, according to local authorities.
The incident occurred inside an air defense barracks near al-Sabil neighborhood in Homs, where the rocket, described as a remnant from the former Syrian government’s military arsenal, detonated, Syria’s state news agency SANA reported, citing a security source.
The source said that the explosion resulted in injuries to two children and caused limited material damage in the surrounding area. The injured were transferred to medical facilities for treatment.
War remnants remain widely scattered across several areas in Syria following years of conflict, posing an ongoing threat to civilians. Hundreds of people are exposed each month to the risks posed by unexploded ordnance, with many casualties reported among children.
