Iran launches missile barrages after U.S.–Israeli strikes
QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) – Iran launched early on Sunday a wave of missile and drone attacks across the Middle East, targeting Israel and several locations hosting U.S. forces, in retaliation for a joint U.S.–Israeli military campaign against Iranian leadership and strategic infrastructure.
The Iranian attacks followed coordinated airstrikes carried out by the United States and Israel on Saturday against military and government facilities across Iran. The operation killed Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ali Khamenei, along with several senior security officials.
In the past hours, Iranian forces fired missiles toward Israeli cities and U.S.-linked military facilities in the Gulf, including bases in Bahrain, Qatar, and Kuwait, according to international media reports.
Air raid sirens sounded across Israel as missile interception systems were activated. One missile struck central Tel Aviv, killing at least one civilian and injuring more than 20 others, Israeli emergency services reported.
Explosions were also reported in several Gulf cities amid Iranian attacks targeting U.S. military assets across the region, raising fears of a broader regional conflict.
Israeli strikes continue inside Iran
Meanwhile, Israel carried out a new wave of airstrikes early Sunday targeting Iranian ballistic missile launchers, air-defense systems, and military command facilities.
Israeli fighter jets struck roughly 30 sites across western and central Iran as part of an ongoing military campaign aimed at degrading Tehran’s missile capabilities.
Explosions were reported in several Iranian cities, including Tehran, Qom, and Isfahan, as the attacks expanded beyond the initial wave of strikes launched on Saturday.
Israeli authorities declared a nationwide state of emergency, mobilized reservists, and closed airspace while preparing for further Iranian retaliation.
Regional tensions escalate
Iran’s Revolutionary Guard Corps vowed continued retaliation and said its strikes targeted Israeli military infrastructure and U.S. bases across the Middle East.
The rapidly escalating confrontation marks one of the most dangerous military crises in the region in decades, with several countries bracing for further attacks as both sides continue military operations.
