US Envoy, Mazloum Abdi meet Talabani in Sulaymaniyah
QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) – The President of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK), Bafel Talabani, met on Tuesday with the US Special Envoy to Syria, Tom Barrack, and the General Commander of the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), Mazloum Abdi, in the city of Sulaymaniyah in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq.
According to media outlets in the Kurdistan Region, the meeting addressed the latest developments in Syria, particularly issues concerning Kurdish communities and ongoing political and security dynamics in the country.
The discussions were also attended by Qubad Talabani, a member of the PUK political leadership. Participants stressed the importance of implementing the agreement reached on January 29 between the Syrian Democratic Forces and the Syrian government, emphasizing the need to remove obstacles hindering its execution.
The attendees highlighted the necessity of respecting Syria’s diverse components and reaffirmed support for efforts aimed at helping the country become an active and constructive state at both regional and international levels, according to the reported statements.
The meeting comes as diplomatic contacts continue between local Syrian actors and international stakeholders seeking to maintain stability and advance dialogue frameworks following years of conflict.
