Syrian authorities release dozens of Hizb ut-Tahrir detainees in Idlib

QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) – The Syrian government  released on Monday dozens of detainees affiliated with Hizb ut-Tahrir from a prison in the town of Harem, northern countryside of Idlib, according to local sources.

Sources told North Press that the release included individuals previously detained over political positions opposing the former Salvation Government that administered parts of the region. No official statement has been issued clarifying the legal basis of the decision or the framework under which the detainees were freed.

Among those released was Abdulrazzaq al-Masri, described by local sources as one of the prominent figures within Hizb ut-Tahrir. Witnesses said families and relatives gathered near the detention site to receive those freed, with small crowds forming outside the prison as releases proceeded throughout the day.

Eyewitnesses reported that the process took place gradually over several hours under visible security measures deployed around the facility. Families of other detainees remained gathered nearby, hoping additional names would be included in subsequent release batches.
