Israeli forces set up checkpoint after incursion in Quneitra countryside
QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) – Israeli forces advanced on Monday into the southern countryside of Quneitra, where they established a checkpoint and inspected vehicles and civilians passing through the area, local sources said.
Several areas in southern Syria have recently witnessed repeated Israeli ground incursions, with movements reported almost daily and at times reaching towns in the Damascus countryside.
Local sources told North Press that “armored vehicles belonging to the Israeli army advanced into the buffer zone between Kudna and Breiqa in the southern Quneitra countryside and set up a checkpoint in the al-Kabbas area of Kudna.”
The sources added that Israeli soldiers inspected residents and passing vehicles on the road at the checkpoint.
Israeli forces have conducted a series of cross-border operations and movements in southern Syria in recent months, particularly in areas near the demarcation line. These activities have been reported by local residents across several villages in Quneitra and parts of rural Damascus.
No official statement had been issued by Israeli authorities regarding Monday’s incursion at the time of publication.
