Asayish member injured while securing government forces’ entry into Hasakah
QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) – The Internal Security Forces (Asayish) said on Tuesday that one of their members was wounded while securing the entry of the Syrian transitional government forces into the city of Hasakah, northeastern Syria, as part of the implementation of an agreement between Damascus and the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF).
The convoy of government forces, according to the statement, came under direct gunfire from “terrorist cells.”
The Asayish said its forces responded “immediately and responsibly” to ensure the safety of the convoy and protect civilians in the surrounding area. The source of the gunfire was engaged, and the cells involved in the attack were pursued.
The statement added that, as a result of the attack and the movements of the cells, one Asayish member was injured and is currently receiving medical treatment.
The Asayish noted that the operation led to the arrest of a number of individuals belonging to the cells involved, with investigations still ongoing.
As part of precautionary measures and to prevent any potential threat to civilians, the Asayish said it imposed a temporary curfew in the area to block the movement of the cells and prevent any attempts to exploit the situation to undermine security.
The statement stressed that the measures were carried out with a high degree of precision and responsibility, contributing to the successful completion of the mission without any damage or civilian casualties.
