ENKS calls for responsible implementation of SDF-government agreement

QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) – The Kurdish National Council in Syria (ENKS) said on Sunday that the agreement reached between the Syrian transitional government and the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) requires a “responsible approach” in order to spare the country further suffering and tension and to help facilitate the return of displaced people to their homes.

In a statement, the ENKS said it views the agreement between the Syrian government and the SDF as a step that must be handled responsibly, expressing hope that it will be implemented seriously and in a sustainable manner.

Such an approach, the council said, would help prevent additional hardship and instability and contribute to the return of displaced Syrians.

The council added that Presidential Decree No. 13 represents an entry point for launching a serious national dialogue between the Syrian government and representatives of the Kurdish people, aimed at achieving legitimate national rights, addressing all historical grievances, and enshrining these rights constitutionally.

The ENKS stressed that guaranteeing the rights of all Syrian components on the basis of genuine partnership, justice, and equality constitutes the cornerstone of protecting the national interest and ensuring lasting security and stability.
