Kurdish National Council condemns killing of Kurdish family in Kobani
QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) – The Kurdish National Council in Syria (ENKS) strongly condemned late on Monday the shelling of the village of Kharab Ashq in the countryside of Kobani, northern Syria, by forces of the Syrian transitional government, which resulted in the killing of an entire Kurdish family, most of them women and children.
In a statement, the ENKS said, “We strongly condemn the horrific crime that targeted the family of Rasho Bozan Kadro and Mustafa Othman Kajo in the village of Kharab Ashq.”
Earlier on Monday, forces of the transitional government shelled the village.
The ENKS said the attack killed 10 civilians from a single Kurdish family, the majority of whom were women and children, describing the incident as a flagrant violation of all humanitarian values.
The council added that the attack constitutes a blatant breach of the ceasefire and underscores the continued policy of targeting innocent civilians, threatening ongoing de-escalation efforts.
The ENKS called on the United States and the Global Coalition to assume their moral and political responsibilities and to work seriously toward enforcing and stabilizing the ceasefire.
It also demanded the launch of a transparent investigation to uncover the circumstances of the attack, identify those responsible, and hold the perpetrators accountable, stressing that the protection of civilians must remain a top priority and that innocent lives should not be the price of any political conflict or agreement.
