Kurdish official says ceasefire consolidation key to implementing Jan. 18 agreement
QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) – Ilham Ahmad, head of the Foreign Relations Department for the Kurdish Autonomous Administration, said late Friday that consolidating the ceasefire and formally declaring an end to military operations are the cornerstone for implementing the Jan. 18 agreement.
Ahmad noted that recent days have witnessed mass displacement from several villages and towns, with residents waiting for a safe return to their homes.
She warned that civilian life has been severely disrupted, with education coming to a halt amid harsh winter conditions.
Despite these challenges, Ahmad said the Autonomous Administration continues its efforts and initiatives to end the conflict, pointing to ongoing national and international efforts that she described as worthy of appreciation.
