Kurdish Red Crescent condemns attacks on medical facilities in Syria’s Qamishli
QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) – The Kurdish Red Crescent (KRC) condemned on Wednesday attacks targeting health facilities as well as medical and humanitarian staff in northern and eastern Syria, urging the international community to intervene immediately to halt the assaults.
In a statement, the KRC said, “We strongly denounce all attacks that have targeted health centers and medical and relief personnel in the regions of northeastern Syria, most recently the targeting of the Prosthetics Center in the city of Qamishli.”
The organization noted that the targeted center provides treatment and rehabilitation services to thousands of people with disabilities from all segments of society.
Late on Tuesday night, the Internal Security Forces (Asayish) announced that a drone had struck the parking area of the Heart and Eye Hospital in Qamishli.
The KRC held Turkey “fully responsible” for these attacks, stating that targeting medical facilities, healthcare workers, and humanitarian organizations “may amount to a war crime under international law.”
The organization appealed to the international community, as well as human rights and humanitarian organizations, to take urgent and immediate action to stop the attacks on Kurdish cities and towns in northeastern Syria, protect civilians, and ensure their safety.
