AANES official warns of fabricated news aimed at undermining ceasefire agreement
QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) – Ilham Ahmad, Co-Chair of the Foreign Relations Department of the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria (AANES), urged on Monday residents of northeastern Syria to exercise caution regarding circulating reports of “massacres in Hasakah,” saying the claims are linked to “sabotaging actors seeking to undermine the ceasefire.”
In a post on X platform, Ahmad said, “We urge citizens to exercise the highest degree of caution. All reports about massacres in Hasakah are completely fabricated.”
Her remarks came a day after Syrian Transitional President Ahmed al-Sharaa announced the signing of an agreement establishing a comprehensive and immediate ceasefire across all fronts and contact lines between forces of the Syrian transitional government and the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF).
She added that the reports are being spread by sources connected to “sabotaging parties that are not committed to the ceasefire,” accusing them of fueling tribal tensions and attempting to reignite attacks on Hasakah and Kobani.
Ahmad stressed that “we are committed to the ceasefire agreement and to full integration,” adding that the situation in Hasakah remains stable.
