AANES condemns military escalation by Syrian government, calls for dialogue
RAQQA, Syria (North Press) – The Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria (AANES) voiced on Thursday concern and condemnation over what it described as escalating actions by the Syrian transitional government and a turn toward military escalation.
In a statement, the AANES expressed its “deep concern and strong condemnation of the unjustified escalation carried out by factions affiliated with Syria’s transitional government in Damascus, given the serious risks this approach poses to what remains of opportunities for stability and peace in the country.”
It warned that provoking new wars or resorting to unjustified military escalation would undermine any serious political process, erode the foundations of civil peace, and deepen division and fragmentation among Syrians.
The statement stressed that “the language of dialogue and responsible discussion to resolve outstanding issues must prevail among all Syrian forces, away from the language of threats, war, and weapons, which will only lead to more bloodshed and destruction.”
It added that in such a scenario, “there will be no winners or losers—rather, the homeland and the Syrian people will pay the price.”
The AANES called on all Syrian powers and actors to reject hate speech and incitement, and to work collectively toward a decentralized Syria that guarantees the rights of all its citizens without exception.
It said the AANES “remains ready to return to discussions on all issues through dialogue and mutual understanding, in order to spare Syrian blood and thwart plans aimed at fueling conflict among Syrians,” according to the statement.
The AANES also appealed to the international community and influential countries involved in Syria to take clear positions and effective, concrete steps to prevent the outbreak of any new war, and to support political pathways that would end the suffering of the Syrian people and achieve lasting peace.
