SDF says Turkish drone targeted its forces in Aleppo countryside
QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) – The Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) said on Wednesday that one of their military points was targeted by a Turkish drone in the town of Maskanah in the eastern countryside of Aleppo.
“In the context of ongoing escalation, a Turkish Bayraktar drone targeted a military position belonging to our forces in the city of Maskanah without causing any casualties,” the SDF said in a statement. “This marks the second attack of the day, reflecting a serious and continuous escalation in the area.”
The SDF further noted that “a Turkish Bayraktar unmanned aerial vehicle targeted one of our positions in the village of Al-Bu‘asi, in the countryside of Tabqa.”
According to the statement, the attack resulted in several injuries among SDF fighters, who were transferred for medical treatment, marking “the third attack by Turkish UAVs within one week.”
The SDF also said its forces thwarted an infiltration attempt carried out by Damascus government factions along the axis of Zubaida village in the southern countryside of Dayr Hafir.
The attackers were forced to flee after their attempt failed, the statement said, noting that the operation took place under drone cover and involved the use of machine guns.
