Jordan confirms participation in U.S. airstrikes against ISIS in Syria
DAMASCUS, Syria (North Press) – Jordan announced on Sunday that its air force took part in U.S.-led airstrikes targeting the Islamic State (ISIS) in Syria.
In a statement, the Jordanian Armed Forces said that Royal Jordanian Air Force jets carried out “precision aerial operations” against a number of ISIS targets in several locations inside Syrian territory.
On Saturday, the U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) announced that it had conducted multiple airstrikes in Syria aimed at ISIS positions, as part of ongoing efforts to counter the group.
The Jordanian military said its participation in the strikes came within the framework of continued regional and international efforts to combat terrorism.
“The airstrikes were coordinated with partners within the framework of the international coalition… to neutralize the capabilities of terrorist groups and prevent them from reorganizing,” the Jordanian army said.
