U.S. CENTCOM launches new airstrikes against ISIS targets in Syria
QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) – U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) announced on Saturday that it had carried out several airstrikes in Syria targeting the Islamic State (ISIS), as part of a military operation launched by the U.S. in December 2025 in response to an attack on American personnel.
In a statement, CENTCOM said “at approximately 12:30 p.m. Eastern Time, U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) forces, alongside partner forces, conducted large-scale strikes against multiple ISIS targets across Syria.”
CENTCOM explained that the airstrikes were part of “Operation Hawkeye Strike, which was launched and announced on Dec. 19, 2025, at the direction of President Trump, in direct response to the deadly ISIS attack on U.S. and Syrian forces in Palmyra, Syria, on Dec. 13, 2025. That ambush, carried out by an ISIS terrorist, resulted in the tragic deaths of two American soldiers and one U.S. civilian interpreter.”
The statement did not clarify whether the strikes resulted in any casualties, and Pentagon declined to provide further details.
In December 2025, CENTCOM announced that its forces, in coordination with partner forces in Syria, had carried out approximately 80 military operations since July 2025.
