One killed, 13 wounded in Aleppo shelling on Kurdish areas – Asayish
QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) – Kurdish Internal Security Forces (Asayish) in Aleppo said on Wednesday that one of their members was killed and at least 13 others, including civilians and security personnel, were wounded in heavy shelling on the Sheikh Maqsoud and Ashrafiyeh neighborhoods in Aleppo city.
In a statement, the Asayish said the residential areas were targeted with heavy weapons and drones by factions affiliated with the Ministry of Defense of the Syrian transitional government, stressing that the attacks struck civilians and Internal Security Forces “without any distinction.”
The shelling resulted in the death of Asayish member Sabri Mohammed Abdulqader, while six other members of the force were wounded.
Six civilians were also wounded in the attacks, Asayish said.
The Asayish added that due to the intensity of the shelling, rescue teams have not yet been able to reach all the wounded, warning that the casualty toll could rise.
Despite the escalation, the Internal Security Forces reaffirmed their commitment to defending civilians and maintaining security and stability in Aleppo, saying the attacks would not deter them from carrying out their duties.
