Asayish reports civilian casualty after Aleppo’s Kurdish neighborhood’s attacks
ALEPPO, Syria (North Press) – The Kurdish-led Internal Security Forces (Asayish) in Aleppo’s neighborhoods of Sheikh Maqsoud and Ashrafiyeh reported on Monday that Sheikh Maqsoud was targeted multiple times by armed factions affiliated with the Syrian transitional government, resulting in civilian casualties and property damage.
In an official statement, the Asayish said that over the past 24 hours, the neighborhood was struck four consecutive times by factions linked to the Ministry of the Defense, killing one civilian and injuring two others.
The attacks also caused significant damage to homes and private property.
The statement emphasized that the Asayish responded firmly to the attacks, targeting two positions held by the attacking factions as part of their legitimate right to defend civilians.
“This attack constitutes a new violation of the ceasefire and demonstrates the ongoing disregard for previous agreements aimed at protecting civilians and ensuring their safety,” the statement read.
The Asayish reiterated that all responses would remain within the bounds of the law and self-defense, calling on all parties to respect civilians’ rights and avoid targeting residential areas.
The statement reflects growing concern among Kurdish residents in Aleppo, where neighborhoods under Asayish protection continue to face sporadic shelling and armed incursions.
Local officials warned that repeated violations threaten the fragile stability of Kurdish-majority neighborhoods and urged both government-aligned factions and international actors to enforce agreements that safeguard civilian populations.
