Israeli forces enter former military post in Quneitra
QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) –Israeli forces carried out incursions on Tuesday into former Syrian army positions in Quneitra countryside, deploying heavy military equipment and detaining one civilian in a separate area.
Local sources told North Press that Israeli units entered the al-Dar’iyat military post, once held by government forces, near al-Ma’laqa village in central Quneitra. The incursion involved tanks, bulldozers, and other heavy vehicles, accompanied by reconnaissance aircraft flying overhead. Bulldozers reportedly conducted earthworks inside the site.
In a related development, another Israeli force advanced into the town of al-‘Ashah in southern Quneitra. During the operation, soldiers detained a young man from the town while he was herding sheep. He was taken to an undisclosed location, with no information available on the reasons for his arrest.
The incursions mark a continuation of Israeli military activity along the border areas of Quneitra, where former Syrian army positions remain sensitive points. Local residents expressed concern over the presence of heavy machinery and aerial surveillance in the vicinity of their villages.
No official statement has been issued regarding the arrest, and the fate of the detained individual remains unknown.
