SDF reports wounding of fighters near Tishrin Dam
QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) –
The Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) announced on Monday that three of its fighters were injured in artillery shelling carried out by factions affiliated with the Syrian government near Tishrin Dam in the countryside of Aleppo.
In a statement released by the SDF Media Center, the group said that at approximately 4 p.m. local time, government-backed factions targeted residential areas around Tishrin Dam with heavy artillery and other weapons, resulting in the injury of three SDF members.
The statement was accompanied by video footage showing the area affected by the shelling.
The incident comes amid ongoing tensions in northern Syria, where government-affiliated factions have repeatedly targeted areas under the control of the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria (AANES). The SDF, which provides security in these regions, has frequently accused such groups of undermining stability through indiscriminate attacks on civilian and military positions.
Tishrin Dam, located on the Euphrates River southeast of Manbij, is a strategic site that supplies electricity and water to surrounding communities. The area has witnessed sporadic clashes in recent years, with the SDF maintaining a presence to secure infrastructure and protect local populations.
The SDF emphasized that the attack endangered both its fighters and nearby residents, underscoring the risks posed by continued violations of ceasefire arrangements.
The SDF concluded its statement by reaffirming its commitment to defending the region and ensuring the safety of communities living under the administration of AANES.
