Israeli troops detain five Syrians near Golan Heights
QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) – Israeli forces detained on Sunday five men from Syria’s southern Daraa governorate while they were gathering mushrooms in the village of Kudna, located in the Quneitra countryside near the occupied Golan Heights.
According to a local source who spoke to North Press, the men were apprehended in the fields before Israeli soldiers destroyed their motorcycles. The detainees were then forced into military vehicles and transported toward the Golan area. No official explanation was provided regarding the reasons for their arrest.
The incident comes amid heightened Israeli military activity in southern Syria. Earlier the same day, the spokesperson for the Israeli army announced that Reserve Brigade 55 had concluded its mission in the region after nearly three months of continuous field operations.
In a statement, the Israeli army said the brigade operated under the command of Division 210, carrying out missions across the Golan Heights and surrounding areas, as well as other parts of southern Syria. The statement described the operations as “defensive activities and diverse field missions aimed at deterring threats and protecting Israel’s northern borders.”
